This summer, Ballet Gloria held two summer camps – Ballerina Camp for younger students and Intensive for older girls. The Company and many others had prayed for new students, and God certainly answered, adding dancers throughout the week and even filling one class to capacity! Here are some highlights from the week:
Intensive students took a vocabulary class, learning about the French terminology for different steps and discussing the difference between styles of ballet. By the end of the week, each student could demonstrate the arabesques and body directions. The class favorite was croise devant!
Each day, students had a devotion and worship time focusing the theme of redemption. The camp verse for all levels was 1 Peter 1:18-19: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” Even the youngest students were able to memorize this verse throughout the week, and each student heard the story of Jesus Christ and His redemption clearly presented.
On the last day of camp, all the students combined to present a short performance for family and friends. The dancers worked extremely hard, learning a total of three dances in one week, and shared some things they had learned during camp.
Ballet Gloria teachers were so thankful for the opportunity to work with each dancer and see them step out of their comfort zones this past week. Thank you to each of you who prayed for this camp, and praise God for an exciting start to the 2017-2018 dance year!
