The mission of Ballet Gloria:
To present the gospel of Jesus Christ to the widest possible audience through the medium of dance and personal witness.
To provide a visual and artistic witness in the arts community through classes and performances.
To teach students to be technically and artistically proficient in dance, and to encourage them in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Ballet Gloria is based in Northeast Ohio, and is in its first year of operation. Company members include:
Lydia Markgraf (Detrow) began dancing when she was five years old. She studied ballet with Suzanne Rosati of Ballet Arts for six years, and then continued her training at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association throughout high school.
Lydia attended summer intensives at Ballet Magnificat, and after graduation from high school she joined Light of the World Ballet in Syracuse, New York. She trained and performed with the company in New York, and also overseas in Israel.
Upon completing LWB’s trainee program in 2015 she returned home to Ohio. Her desire has been to have her own company and dance studio in Northeast Ohio. God has answered those prayers through the formation of Ballet Gloria. She started the ballet school in 2015, and is the Director of Ballet Gloria.
Caitlyn Walker began dancing at Tennessee Conservatory of Fine Arts in Knoxville, TN, and continued her training at various schools in East TN (Central Ballet of Greeneville, Trinity Arts Center, Van Metre School of Dance). She attended summer intensives at International Ballet of Houston and The Rock School, as well as studying under teachers from companies such as the Ailey Extension, Louisville Ballet, National Dance Academy Ireland, and North Carolina Dance Theatre. Throughout high school she performed with Appalachian Ballet Company, dancing both full-length classical ballets and contemporary repertoire. In 2014, Ms. Walker moved to Syracuse, NY to be a trainee with Light of the World Ballet, where she had the opportunity to dance overseas on a mission trip to Peru. She graduated from LWB’s trainee program in 2017 and is also a teacher for Ballet Gloria.
Hannah Wallace began dancing at age three at Maranatha School of Dance in Cape Coral, Florida, where she continued to train until her senior year of high school, at which point she trained for a year at Studio Elite Acro and Dance Academy, also in Cape Coral. She joined Maranatha’s performing dance team in her freshman year of high school and began exploring styles of dance apart from solely ballet, such as jazz, modern, lyrical, and contemporary. Throughout her high school years, Ms. Wallace attended Dance Revolution’s workshops in Orlando, Florida, and Ballet Magnificat’s summer dance intensive in Jackson, Mississippi.
In September 2014, she relocated to Syracuse, New York to join Light of the World Ballet’s trainee program, during which time she traveled to Israel with the company and had the opportunity to perform personal choreography there. Ms. Wallace left the program in 2017 and will be teaching and performing with Ballet Gloria.
